Johnston Earns Rookie Honor
FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. - SU freshman Mandy Johnston has been named USA South Conference women's basketball Rookie of the Week in selections announced Monday by the conference office.

Johnston helped the Hornets to a 1-1 week by averaging 14.0 points and 7.0 rebounds as SU downed Methodist and lost at league-leading Greensboro.

In the 80-77 overtime victory at Methodist, Johnston chipped in a season-best 17 points and had eight rebounds to help the Hornets snap a five-game losing streak on the Monarchs home floor.

Johnston backed up that performance with a team-best 11 points in Sunday's loss at Greensboro.

Johnston is back in action Wednesday evening in a USA South Conference game at Christopher Newport. Game time is 5:30.
